We sweep Cedar Key and Levy County’s own newsrooms every morning and link the stories that matter here — in their words, on their pages. We just keep the porch light on.

One small island, a whole day of it
Cedar Key rewards the unhurried. Start with the story, end with the sunset.
The island’s story
A great Gulf port, a pencil empire, and the hurricane that changed everything — the museum tells it for two dollars.
The refuge islands
Thirteen wild islands, an 1854 lighthouse, and a town that used to be on the other side of the harbor. Boat required; wonder guaranteed.
Dock Street & the pier
Clam boats, cold drinks, and dinner that was swimming this morning — the island’s living room, hanging over the water.
On the water
Island tours, backcountry kayaks, fishing charters, and scallop season. The real Cedar Key starts at the marina.
Trails & quiet corners
Boardwalks over the marsh, an old rail bed, and a thousand-year-old shell mound. Bring binoculars.
Festival season
Seafood in October, art in April, a swim with “sharks” in August. This island throws a party at every excuse.

Island famous
Every small town has its characters. Ours just happen to include a playwright in a clam hat. Local Celebrities is our running series of long-form profiles of the people who make Cedar Key Cedar Key — the watermen, artists, cooks, and characters no guidebook can copy.
First up: the Clambassador. Profile in the works — check back soon.

Staying over?
Good call — Cedar Key at dawn is worth the overnight. The island’s inns, cottages, and rentals are small, family-run, and booked by folks who know them by name. So do we. Two of our favorites: Old Florida Fish Camp and Pirates Cove — ask us about either.
Ask us where to stay: hello@cedarkey.vacations — tell us your dates and what you’re after, and we’ll point you at the right porch.
